ANOTHER SHOWDOWN ON THE FORD COX GAME OF THE WEEK

Posted by Steve Marshall on 01/28/2013

The three time defending state champion and #2 rated Douglass Trojans (14-3) will battle the 4th rated Southeast Spartans (15-4) on the Cox Game of the Week, Tuesday with the girl’s game beginning at 6:30 and the boys at 8pm.

While OSU signee Stevie Clark and his teammates are looking for their fourth consecutive Gold Ball this year, the Spartans come into the contest on fire, having won 10 straight including the Championship at this weekend’s Shawnee Classic taking down an impressive Norman North squad.

With four teams in front of the Spartans losing over the weekend, they could be ranked as high as #3 in 5A when the new rankings come out earlier on game day. Southeast is led by Rashawn Thomas, an athletic 6’7 forward who had games of 41pts and 31pts last week before being named the MVP of the tournament over the weekend.

Douglass has averaged over 100pts per game in their last five since losing three of four games at the Allstate Sugar Bowl National Prep Classic in New Orleans in early January.

Since then, the Trojans took the championship at the Kansas National Guard Invitational where the margin of victory was 55pts over the three day event.
